Charter of Victims’ Rights review
We are currently reviewing the Charter of Victims’ Rights to assess how well it meets the diverse needs of victims of crime in Queensland. The review has 2 stages of public consultation.
Stage 2 has commenced
It focuses on:
- Awareness and understanding of the Charter
- Accessibility of the Charter
- Enforceability of the Charter
- Accountability under the Charter
- Innovative approaches

Key dates
2026
- 29 January – stage 2 of the review is open for public consultation
- 18 March – stage 2 of the public consultation closes at 5pm
- December – the Victims’ Commissioner will provide a report to the Minister
2025
Stage 1 of the public consultation opened on 11 August and closed on 17 October.
It focused on:
- the experiences of victims and their needs
- the Charter’s purpose
- the rights within its scope
- how it currently operates.
