For support services
If your organisation is government funded (by the State or Commonwealth) to provide services to victims of violent crime (including domestic and family violence) as your primary function, the Charter of Victims’ Rights (the Charter) applies to your organisation and your officers, members and employees.
The Charter describes rights of victims when Queensland Government entities and funded non-government entities interact with them.
If a victim believes they have not had their Charter rights upheld, they have the right to make a complaint.
Supporting a victim to make a complaint
You can lodge a complaint with our office on a victim’s behalf, with their permission.
You can also help a victim to make a complaint themselves directly to the agency concerned or to our office by:
- helping the victim to understand their rights under the Charter of Victims’ Rights
- using our decision tree to help identify whether the victim’s complaint is a Charter of Victims Right complaint.
- referring the victim to our office if they would like to make a complaint with us.
Complaints can be made to our office:
- online
- by phoning 1800 714 100
- emailing contact@victimscommissioner.qld.gov.au
- printing our contact form and emailing or mailing it to us (postal details are on the form).
