Crown Prosecutors

A lawyer who works for the state and is responsible for presenting charges against the person accused of a crime to the court. Crown prosecutors can:

• review evidence
• decide if there is enough evidence to prosecute someone
• argue the case in court to prove the person’s guilt
• provide submissions on a person’s sentence.

Can also be referred to as ‘the Crown’ in court.
